3500a OR DVR-108, faster ripper and more media compatible?

Postby TomFoolery on Mon Oct 18, 2004 8:31 pm

I know everyone keeps asking which is better. All I want to know is which one is more media compatible, and which one can rip dvd's faster.

That's all, no real annoying pointless questions.

specs for the rip speed would be nice.

thanks

Very difficult question, but not a bad one :)

I think Pioneer is the more compatible one with official firmware, but it burns slower on many media. The burns turn out better (more compatible) though.

With hacked firmware on Nec's side, I don't know (nobody has really done a mass compatibility comparison).

AS for reading, there is also a speed hack for Nec, but as it is that Nec already has problems reading back some dvd-r/dvd+r discs at default speed, I think this hack just could just aggrevate things.

That's just food for though. I don't have enough info to say that for sure which one is better in regards to the criteria you asked.
