Ads = Money ???

Postby dodecahedron on Fri Feb 14, 2003 12:59 pm

question:

when i click on an add, how long must i stay there for CDRLabs to get some money for that?
is it enough that i click and i can close the window right away, or do i have to wait at least untill it finishes loading?
can i close it as soon as it loads, or must i stay there for X amount of time?
is it enough just to stay with that window, or do i have to browse around a bit and click a few more times there in order for CDRLabs to get some dough?

are there any ads that you want us to click in particular?

and another question:

i run Spybot - Search & Destroy, and it finds Tracking Cookies from the likes of:
www.qksrv, doubleclick, fastclick etc.

if i remove these tracking cookies, will that prevent CDRLabs from getting money when i click on their ads?

For some.. we get paid just for you viewing them. Others, you need to click em. I don't think you need to spend a certain amount of time. Just click em.

The second question, the cookies are to keep track of what ads you've seen and when. I know for some of the fastclick stuff, you see them only 1 per session or 1 per day. If you blow away the cookies, its probably just going to keep showing you ads.

As Matt said, I wouldn't worry about it. As it is, the ad market is in the crapper. The number of visitors we have increases every month, but the last few months our ad payments have gone down. Go figure.

I'm sure that the qksrv banners are the ones that must be clicked, but the ones that automatically scroll in :( don't need to be clicked. You only need to click long enough for the page to start loading.

Yeah, those don't, nor do the pop behinds. I know those are annoying, but they're the only things that pay right now.

The ones that need to be clicked are usually the ones on the top and bottom of the page.
