alcohol good for data dvd burning?

I burn data dvd's for backup quite often, and the occasional data or audio cd. I'm currently with nero 6 and not liking a 100 meg download for the newest version.

Is Alcohol a good program for burning data discs? I don't care about tons of features or backing up protected discs...just a good burn engine.

what other software is compact, efficient, and is kept up to date with new burners?

Wrong forum, I guess.

With Alcohol you can burn images and copy DVDs, but you can´t make a own data-disc or Audio.

Wjy don´t you stay with Nero 6.6? It supports all writers you can get now.
