Benq DW 1640 BSLB and Fuji DVD+R 8x (Ritek R03)

Postby Scour on Sun Oct 09, 2005 7:24 pm

Hello!

Burned some of those media with Nero 6.6.0.16.

I use the verify-function of Nero and this cause some problems. It started the verify @ 1,8x instead of 6,5x and read very very slow.

Anyone have the same problems?

You have to put the result of CDSpeed Quality TESt and Transfer Rate test for the people to look at it and make recommendation or comment.

Yeah, TCAS is right, don't bother with Nero's verification function.

Hello!

First scan and transfer-rate test.

Nero startet the verfify with 1,8x speed.

I know it´s not a very good burn, but at the beginning of the disc the error-level is low enough for flawless reading.

Hello!

Second scan and transfer-rate test.

Nero startet the verfify with 1,8x speed.

I think it´s an awful burn, but at the beginning of the disc the error-level is low enough for flawless reading, again.

Hello!

Third scan and transfer-rate test.

Nero startet the verfify with 6,5x speed.

Ooch! Although it shows high PIF-level at the beginning, the Benq don´t have trouble to read til the 2,5 GB-mark. The not-smooth-graph depend on the disc, not on my computer, I don´t have things running while test in the background.

Can't comment much, but those PIFs are horrible at the beginning; the DVD standard is no more than 4 and you're getting in the 20s and 30s... those aren't good burns at all, and probably has a large relation as to why Nero's verify starts so slowly.

Your forgetting something. Yes it's PIF 4 MAX but Benq 1640 reports PIF8 (PIF of 8ECC blocks)so it's 8*4=32 at MAX.
Still these results are still quite crap.
No rule for blameing the drives support with solid burn arround unless the ADIP data is messed up.

Hello!

I know that Ritek R03 is crappy media, my LG 4082 don´t like em.

But I´m confused because the media with low PI/PIF at the begin was read so slow and the media with high PIF was read at max.

Sometimes the Benq write only 4x at this media when 8x is selected
