Postby Tonearm on Mon Apr 07, 2003 7:07 pm

AFAIK Ritek is the only brand you can get in US since CompUSA stopped selling them.

I see 99 minute CD-Rs at allmediaoutlet.com, but they don't say anything about Ritek. How do you know they aren't generic?

I bought mine over @ www.yesbuy.net
This is indeed a 99 minute disc, I've been able to get over 100 minutes on it with ease.

This Disc is designed for CD-RW/COMBO Drive Only.
Disc Type, Material = CD-R, Phthalocyanine
ATIP Lead-in = 96m 43s 37f
Norminal Capacity = 702.83MB (79m 59s 74f)
Disc Manufacturer maybe = RiTEK (90min)
SMART-BURN Speed Limit = 48X

They were listed as generic. I'm only aware of 2 makers of 99 minute discs: Ritek & Sky Multimedia in Switzerland. I've had both and they were excellent.

I have used the SKY branded 99 min. disks from yesbuy and I love them. They are excellent disks. I also got excellent service from that company.

Spazmogen- What do you mean by combo drives only? Do you mean CDRW/DVD drives?

That's a post of the information that Lite On's 'Smart Burn' utility provides.
But yeah, it's a cd-r.

I imagine it would report differently if it were a DVD-R.
