First Google result for "Benq DW822A": BenQ America Corp. - Optical Storage - DW822A 8x DVD+RW Drive
First sentance of the main body of the page: "With the DW822A, BenQ proudly introduces a true dual format drive that supports both +R/RW and –R/RW format."
Right below that you can see the specs:
"DVD+RW Speed - 8X Writing, 4X Rewriting, 12X ReadingDVD-RW Speed - 4X Writing
, 2X Rewriting, 12X Reading"
I did know the specs of my drive and also do know how to google
In my title I asked if it could be upgraded with firmware B3HC to support 8X -R, as one of the threads in cdfreaks seems to imply.
(Maybe I should have repeated it in the body of my post).
To be safe, since the Benq Europe site says nothing about the firmware contents, and since I didn't find many posts with people's experiences (probably due to the lack of 8X -R media at the time), I wanted to double check with some folks here.
