I did know the specs of my drive and also do know how to google
In my title I asked if it could be upgraded with firmware B3HC to support 8X -R, as one of the threads in cdfreaks seems to imply.
(Maybe I should have repeated it in the body of my post).
To be safe, since the Benq Europe site says nothing about the firmware contents, and since I didn't find many posts with people's experiences (probably due to the lack of 8X -R media at the time), I wanted to double check with some folks here.
