DVD Builder v.6 question.........

just upgraded form Plat 5 to v6 because dvd builder has the ability to make chapters where as plat 5 doesnt(well i could never make chapters with it anyway).........although i can now make chapters i find that all my previously encoded with TMPGEnc films TO MPG now have to RE-ENCODED......b4 burning

is this right and why does a newer product have to encode b4 burning where as the plat5 version burned straight to disc ???????
