Firmware re-sets RPC-2 count ... is this true ?

Postby DavidI on Fri Feb 18, 2005 8:01 pm

Hi all !

Was talking to a friend and he and I both have the DVR-109 Pioneer unit.

It is RPC-2 protected - 5 region re-sets and thats it.

He advised that up until a "hacked" RPC-2-Free firmware is available, that you can just re-flash with the same firmware and it will re-set the RPC-2 counter back to 5.

This sounds too good to be true - anyone know if it is correct or not ?

That's not true for Pioneer drives. As far as I know, there isn't an RPC free firmware yet.. but I'm sure there will be one soon.
