Fuji Disk at best buy 50% off

Best Buy has all Fuji media for 50% off. This sale is available online or all week at the store. If my research is correct the +r 8X made in Japan should be Taiyo Yudens.

I just checked online, all Fuji except dual layer discs. 5 bucks for a DL would have been so sweet.

When I went to Best Buy I picked up two 100 DVD +r packs for $39.99 each. When they ring them up they were coming up at 55.99 the manager said to pricematch since it was advertised on their ad. So I got them for the advertised price. My question is, both for the spindles I got are made in Japan, what is the best way to tell the media code in these? Thanks

Have the disc in your drive and run it through DVD Identifier and find out the media code there.

I am not sure if this is a stupid question, but when I place the DVD in the drive and run DVD Identifier, it says the disk is blank and therefore cannot read it. Is this normal or should I be burning the Disk first?

Thanks for the info, I guess I have to wait until I get my new drive on Tuesday. Apparently the drive I am using now (HP300n) does not support the commands needed to read the media, or so it says.

I just got back from BB and there is a lot of confusion regarding the 50% sale today -- I wanted to get a 50 pack of DVD-Rs, one guy told me no, that was only a 6 hour sale (knew he was full of crap). Next guy told me yeah, they were 50% off but he couldn't tell me how much. The next girl told me they were $19.99 but that she'd check, and came back and said they had gone up to $27.99. I decided to just go check out and see if the rebate would come up going out; it didn't and I said I thought there SHOULD be a mail in rebate per the ad (and knowing online there was, or SOMETHING which brought the price to $19.99), the cashier called the manager over who looked at the ad, looked at my DVDs, and after a few seconds of hemming and hawing, told her to take 50% off the $27.99 price as per the ad. (I was REALLY nice, I kept telling them I thought the price was $19.99 after rebate but if there was no rebate I just didn't want to get them-- wasn't being nasty or anything, just trying to find out)

I got very quiet and happily walked out of the store with my 50 pack of Fuji (Taiyo Yuden) DVD-Rs for $13.99. Obviously, a major MAJOR YMMV.

I only wish I had more than one pack in my hands at that point.

I stopped by one of the local Best Buys today and they were pretty much cleaned out on DVD+-R media in anything greater than a 25 pack. They had hand printed signs indicating that the 50% off was with instant and/or mail-in rebates.

I did find one pack of 100 DVD-R made in taiwan. Wasn't worth it.

Does anyone know if the BB rebates refer to the order date or the ship date for the purchase to be valid for the rebate?

I've dealt with rebates before where the ship date had to be between the time frame given for the rebate.
