In House Review - ASUS SCB-2408-D 24/12/24/8 USB 2.0 CD-RW/D

Postby Ian on Wed Dec 10, 2003 1:10 pm

Today we bring you a review of ASUS's new portable combination CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive, the SCB-2408-D. While small in size, the SCB-2408-D has some of the fastest reading and writing speeds available on a portable drive. It reads and writes at 24x, rewrites at 12x and can read DVD's at speeds up to 8x. The SCB-2408-D also offers support for both FireWire and USB 2.0 as well as features like ASUS's own FlextraLink and FlextraSpeed technologies.

In this review we take a look at some of the features found on the SCB-2408-D and then see how it compares to a few of the drives from the competition. Is the SCB-2408-D the best solution for the person on the go? You'll have to read the review to find out.

WOW, that is one small drive. Now if only it could draw power from the USB/firewire port. That's the one thing I like about my Dell mediabay or whatever it's called. No need for an external powersource. Otherwise I'd go for this Asus in a heartbeat.

BTW Ian, it says AOpen instead of Asus in the first line of the features page. :)
