Ian,please do a review for benq4816p

Postby liteonrules on Thu Jan 30, 2003 6:43 pm

i just got this drive when i bought a verbatim and i tested it against my LITEON 48125W and the ACER BENQ4816P beat it by 8 seconds! that can't be right and since your more of a expert than I, you can do a more accurate test than i can. By the way, i only burn cdrs from burner to harddrive back to burner NOT disc to disc for quality purposes.

We won't be testing that drive. You might be able to get some feedback from some other people here on the forum.

Acer drives tend to have a more primitive disc calibration system than LiteOn, and with some media the LiteOn can take a fair few seconds to get the right strategy. The benefit of course is better writing quality and more media compatibility. If you use the Benq with obscure or low quality media the disc will either come out bad or will write slow.
