Honda needs to get off their high horse and build a V-8 for consumer cars already...

I own a Honda, its completely stock, and I never plan to do anything to it. It's not fast, it's not slow. It's just reliable and nice.

There have been rumors that the next generation NSX will feature a V-8 engine producing around 400 HP. Honda is still pretty much tight lipped about the future of the NSX and whether a V-8 or a hybrid design will be used. However, the next NSX will be influenced by how well Honda does in F1 racing and what other Japanese companies are doing in terms of sports cars and their powertrains. If a V-8 powered NSX actually becomes reality, Honda will also detune the NSX's engine a slight bit and use it in their Acura division for the TL series of cars.

Honda has no real interest in building a V-8 other than to power the NSX. Honda would rather focus R&D on developing cleaner running engines that yield higher gas mileage. Honda's main goal is to build the cleanest running cars that produce the lowest amount of emissions.

Heya BuddhaTB...

You're probably one of the best people to ask. Have you heard of the Cizeta Moroder (sp?)? Got any pics and specs on it? I think they had developed a V16 for it or something.

Here's the info you requested on the Cizeta-Moroder V16T. It kinda looks like an early Lamborghini Diablo Concept.

If your looking for super cars with 16-cylinder engines, check out the Bugatti EB 16/4 Veyron. It uses a W-16 engine that produces 1,001 HP with the help of 4 turbo-chargers.

Doesn't matter. Three of your friends can also experience the fun of 300HP on AWD. Rally time for 4 people
In addition, your insurance premiums should be lower with a 4-door car.

Sweet post, BuddhaTB! I THINK the Cizeta was made by a former Bull employee (or something like that).

As far as the Bugatti goes, I saw one of those on the road one time, although it didn't look like that. Not that I recall, at least. :-? Maybe it was an older design? Pretty cool, though!

Anyone seen that new motorcycle that came out? It uses a Dodge Viper engine. Insane, I tell ya.

You got that all wrong. I saw the Ferrari Enzo up close while at the LA Auto Show and it is a thing of beauty and elegance. I guess its a hit or miss with the Enzo, but its just an awesome super car. No doubt the Lamborghini Murcelago looks nice and goes fast. However Ferrari's cars are more of a thing of beauty and much more driveable than the Lamborghini cars. I'm more of a Ferrari person myself, so its a biased statement. But I do agree that both Ferrari and Lamborghini are the top of their class and nothing comes close to the beauty, power, or status symbol one gets when driving a Ferrari or Lamborghini around.

Can we talk about any import car here?

This is the (General Motors Australia) Holden Monaro. Powered by a 5.7L 315hp LS1 V8, this car is set to be the replacement for the Camaro/Firebird in the US in Sept 2004, where it will be known as the Pontiac GTO. It comes with an optional six speed manual and unlike the F-bodies it replaces, has a full multi-link independent rear suspension. In the US, the engine output will also be uprated to 340hp, expected 0-62mph times should be under six seconds. :o

Wow! That Holden Monaro is pretty cool. I don't care much for the way the back looks, but it's still pretty sweet!

Robotnik, could you cut down on the pics next time. It took them awhile to load for me and I'm using cable modem. 2-3 pics will suffice next time.

I'm not a fan of American cars, so not going to comment much on it. The LS1 engine is pretty nice and I'm not too sure how well sales of this car will do in the U.S., when Camaro and Firebird sales were really declining the past few years. This car follows the muscle car mold, in which a big powerful V-8 is used for the powerplant. This car takes a big pass from me.

I have to agree. The front reminds me of the Mazda 6, but the back half looks like they took it off of a Malibu or some old fart car.

Speaking of V8's in Jap cars. Did you hear that Toyota is getting into NASCAR in 2004? Not that I watch NASCAR, but I thought it was interesting. I guess the hill billy Americans aren't buying enough Toyotas.

There's nothing wrong with a muscle car as far as I'm concerned. Sure car makers like Honda use small displacement, high revving, variable valve timing engines to create power and some may consider that more advanced. Whereas the Monaro uses "old-fashioned" push-rods and lots of cubic inches to generate its power, but the LS1 is a light weight all alloy construction, which makes it advanced in its own way, it is not like the Monaro is steam powered or something!

Robotnik, are those pics of the pre-prodcution model or the production model? I'm just wondering because the interior of the car looks really nice and better than anything GM has put out in a long time.

Check out this Toyota Altezza (Lexus IS 300 in the U.S.) tuned by HKS. It features a full carbon fiber body and a specially built engine. Check out the specs and article.
The HKS Altezza is rated at 600 hp at 8,000 rpm and an even more impressive 450 lb-ft of torque at 6,000. It weighs around 2,000 pounds. Making it a very fast car. Power comes from a turbocharged Inline-6. The same base engine found in the IS 300.

That's a production car, with the standard leather interior. The car has been available for sale in Australia and New Zealand for more that a year now.

Holy Smack! That's sweet! I test drove a "regular" IS 300 at Laguna Seca...sweet car as is. I can't image what a drive like the HKS would be like. Damn. Still, I want my Zanardi NSX...someday. 8)
