Installing New DVD Burner

Postby ruderacer on Tue Jan 25, 2005 10:20 pm

I'm about to install my new Pioneer DVR-109XL to my system and I have a couple of questions:

1. On my secondary IDE I have my CDR-Litey as master. It has both analog and digital connections that go connected to my sound card (SoundBlaster Audigy 2 Platinum). Now the Pioneer has a connector for analog audio and none for digital. My question is, do I leave the digital connection on the Litey and connect the analog to pioneer?

2. Do I have to connect anything at all to the Pioneer and If I don't will I still be able to listen to music?

Your advise is welcome and needed. TIA

My impression is that those cables aren't needed, they should play back through IDE cable. But I'm not sure, so try playing a Country & Western pressed CD in both drives, with and without the cable(s).

Slim,

I got me a cold one and slapped in Willie Nelson's Greatest Hits. It works like a charm. Thanks for the reply.

Like I said before, both analog and digital were connected to the sound card from the Litey. Also, the instructions for the Pioneer said to connect the analog audio. I just wanted to make sure that I was not messing-up. Some web sights said to get a Y-audio cable to connect the audio. Anyways, I followed your suggestion and it does work.

Slim,

I think we all wanted to be a cowboy at one time or another. Anyways, I'm on the road again; let's see what this baby has to offer. Thanks.
