Issues with NEC 3500a when returning from hibernate

Postby norbertofh on Mon Dec 20, 2004 12:07 pm

Hi,

I recently bought a NEC 3500a burner and today I noticed some strange thing happening: my system freezes for about 30 seconds, then "defreezes" during, let's say, another 30 seconds (I really didn't count the time), and after that it freezes again.
When it defreezes it is as if the drive is resetting, as I opened all my drive's bays and the one from the DVD closes (as when you have the bay opened during the PC startup).

I have the NEC drive sharing the IDE cable with another drive, a TEAC CDW-540E CD burner. Up to now I had the CD burner set as MASTER and the NEC as SLAVE. In the meantime I swapped those settings and now the DVD is the master. It has been this way for the past 20 minutes and after a hibernate->wakeup everything seems to be ok.

Did anyone else had a problem similar to this? I still don't know if this was due to the master/slave thing, as I didn't do thorough tests to determine that.

Best regards,
Norberto

Most likely a software/driver type issue. Suggest not using hybernate or sleep functions on a desktop system.
Current drives running here: ND-2500A, ND-3500A, ND-3520A,
LTR-52327S, SOHW-1633S, SOHR-52A8S
