Just watched Constantine (some spoilers)

Postby dolphinius_rex on Mon Jul 25, 2005 4:33 am

I watched Constantine for the first time tonight, and it was better then I had expected. Not to say it was a great movie by any means, but all the bad press and reviews had REALLY lowered my expectations (kinda like the reverse of AVP!), so when I finally watched it, I found it an enjoyable movie. I liked a couple things in it specifically.

#1 I liked how they portrayed the devil, I thought it was very well done.

#2 I liked the portrayal of Gabriel. I've seen all types of angels in movies before... everything from high angels, to fallen angels (excellent job done in Dogma!!)... but this had to be the first time I'd ever seen an insane angel! Very interesting to say the least.

It also had a happier ending then I had imagined.

I saw it a couple weeks ago on DVD. It was ok, but they should have edited some dialogue scenes out to keep it flowing at a better pace. To me, it's 3.5 stars out of 5.

Christopher Walken's Gabriel from The Prophecy is still the best IMO. Viggo Mortensen's Lucifer was great too.

I thought it was a pretty good movie. Did you watch the deleted scenes? They had one where he died and it showed the boy who drove the cab was his angel. They could have ended it alot differently but the way they did was unexpected with Lucifer pulling the tar from his lungs. I liked it anyway.
