LaCie Bitsetting Confusion

I am looking for a external DVD-Writer for now.

The LaCie 8x d2 DVD±RW Double Layer seems good.

However, one review:

This review:

says there is no bitsetting at all...just maybe in future

anyone know who is right? guess I should call them

well I called them....they said this drive makes ALL dvd recordings +- whatever as DVD ROM booktype and you cannot change it.

this make sense?
