Lite-On 52327S in an external USB2.0 Casing

Postby Thalis on Sun Mar 28, 2004 10:51 pm

Hi all

I have a 52327S with firmware QS0B in an external USB2.0 casing. I am using Win2K with SP4. I use Nero 6 to do all the burning and it works great. However, I do have one problem. It can never fully erase a CD-RW whether it's a 4x or 12x or 24x disk. It would start erasing and then give out this message "Disk is not re-writeble therefore it cannot be erased". But I notice that the drive is erasing (red LED is still on). Is this someting to do with Nero's problem or is it a USB problem? I haven't taken out the drive to connect via IDE though.

do you know how to open the case up? I want to put another drive in there but cant open the POS up.

I have had problems overburning with this drive. The LED stays red, but it locks up. after reboot the disk is usually fine.
