Second Burn:

Hey Guy; This BCHB is really a mess and deserve to be let alone and not to bother with.

First burn of BCHB patched with alan42 MCSE
Media: Playo 8X MID AMLC 002
OS/WOPC: Off, SB:On
Selected Burnign Speed: 8X
Burnt:@ 2.3X and Burning time :25 Minutes

Yes it took 25 Minutes to burn @ 2.3X, I will be going back to BCDB until a viable version of f/w being given out by BenQ. This is really sucks.

OS/WOPC: Off, SB:On
Selected Burnign Speed: 8X

I find that SolidBurn on my DW1655 has similar problems with certain media... as in, taking ~30min to burn a disc no matter what.

That's on of the reasons I never automaticall turn on SolidBurn... also, I'm reviewing the drive :P

And I NEVER turn off WOPC

Yours is fine? Why upgrade? I'm waiting for the next release... and you should see it listed at ftp://ftp.benq-eu.com/dvd-rw/firmware/dw1655/ also.

It kinda looks like liteOn may have had a hand in this one as some of my media the WOPC hardly affects the burning curve and on a couple it has suddenly dropped back in speed from like 13 down to 4x. The quality though mostly stays excellent but I dont think I've ever seen this drive drop back in speed like that before. I almost always leave all features like Solid Burn, WOPC and overspeed turned on, and thats how it was set on the test burns I posted on the other burn quality thread Ian is trying to get everyone to post to.
I've also taken to updating FW in safe mode just to be safer and cut down chances of something messing with the flash, also I reset the learned media if it hasn't all ready just in case.
If anybody is getting horrible burns might want to try a safe mode reflash and see if it helps at all.
