ASUS just released a new firmware a week or so ago; you can download it here.

As for what benefit it has, ASUS's website says it can improve writing quality, which is obviously a good thing. I don't know much more about it, as I don't own one of these, and I haven't used one.

Do you (or does anyone else here) know if this drive uses a Microtek chipset? If it does, you can use MTKFLASH to backup your old firmware first.

With this drive, some people are able to make backups, but are unable to flash them back onto the drive :o

I have flashed my ASUS with 1.35 firmwafe and everъtхing was OK
A problem with Princo CD-R are all gone, but now i have problems with Princo CD-RW :)
but new firmware have a several pluses:
1. faster seektime
2. Recognize Princo CD-r az 40x and have no problems with this media.
3. lower CPU usage.
4. recognize 90min CD-R as is. As 780Mb blank media.
5. faster CD-Rw eraze.

That's it from this version 1.35

Thanks to ALL :)
