I haven't heard anything bad about VS0D. The reason that the filesize is smaller is that it uses the new Windows Flasher that has a lit of "empty space" that can be used for storing more/bigger firmwares which compresses very nicely in Winzip. If you compare the uncompressed old flasher with the uncompressed new flasher you'll notice that the new flasher is actually larger.
