News of CD-R/CD-RW Drives

Hi,

I need to buy a new CDRW burner, but i'm thinking to buy an external version using USB 2.0.

My seller told me that LiteOn 40243A was a good one...
it is able to burner till 99 minutes CD... (overburning)

Does you have some experience with this CDRW Burner ?
If yes, could you tell me what is good and bad in this CDRW burner...and in LITE ON company ?

I have the SW-252B on secondary IDE Master (DMA enabled, Ultra Mode 2), my old Sony CD-ROM on Secondary IDE Slave. Jumpers are right, cables are right, BIOS is right, no IRQ conflicts (!). XP Home SP1 sees both drives. My Computer shows the Samsung as CD-RW Drive (D:), the Sony as CD Drive (E:). I can even right-click on either and eject them. Sounds pretty good so far, ...

please can anyone help is there a little program for windows xp where you can switch on and off the DMA on my harddrive and DVD roms and if so where to get it from.

I'm lost in the overburning world... :-(
I have a dragon write 8348A (not A2) and NERO 5.5.10.28.
My OS is windows XP + SP1.

I configured nero for burning 90/99 minutes CDR like it is possible...
Disc-at-once, no multisession, 99m00s00frm.
And i use traxdata silve 90 minutes and Eximpo supergreen 99 minutes.

Everytime that i place CD inside CD burner, first nero detects only 703 ...

have you guys done multi session and making sessions from *different* cd-writers and noticed that the 'color' of the 'marked' burn area is different from writer to writer? some are darker and some are lighter, does it indicate any meaning?

i just noticed that my older teac 6x writer have stronger color than my newer lite-on...

Can anyone tell me if the DVD part of this combo drive is as good as the DVD rom drive XJ-HD166S

I'm running Windows 2000 Pro on a DELL Dimension XPS T800r PIII 800mhz with 640MB RAM, whenever I use NERO to burn data or audio, it starts out fine, but after about 45 seconds the buffer drops down to 0% for a split second, then jumps back up, it might do that twice during a burn, I have DMA enabled and I also have a Pioneer 16X DVD Slot CD-ROM drive connected as SLAVE, but ...

Is it safe to use DriveTool to limit max read speed of CD-RW drive? Because I don't need ultra high speed for playing movies, I don't like the noise, and generally it seems too messy for me. If I set max read speed to say 32x, all is fine, and speed is good enough for my needs. But is it safe?
