Help with Memorex 52/24/52 drive

When using Nero's Infotool, I show that the drive can read at 52x but can only write at 40x. Ideas? BTW, I'm using the firmware that came installed on the drive, I have both the CDR and the CD connected as master to the primary and secondary IDE channels on the MB and I have the two hard drives connected through a ATA/100 controller card. Thanks for the help!!

I'm looking at getting a Buslink 52x24x52x this weekend. I think its made by LITE-ON but not sure. http://www.buslink.com/ver2/CDRW52x.htm

Anyone know how good its reliablity and performance is for making audio CDs? I could not find any reviews on it.

:) Thanks!

GCE-8320B problem with 800MB cd

I recently bought an LG GCE-8320B 32x10x40 CD-RW drive and now I'm having problems with burning a 800MB cd. LG reads all 800MB cd's as a 700mb. Is it hardware problem? I'm working with Nero v.5.5.9.0, WinOnCD v.5.0 Power Edition and CD-RW recorder firmware v1.04.

Regards

Maya

It does support it

I've had my Liteon 48246S for almost two months now, amd I recently found out that this burner does support Mt Rainier, well according to Nero Info Toolkit, Mt Rainier was ticked in the box. But I'm quite mad that Liteon did not mention this on their box or even on their website, it's mentioned on the box of their new 52x burner and also on the website re their 52x burner.

Best chipset?

Is there any concensus on which chipset is the highest performance/best quality? Or is brandname a better indicator of overall performance/quality?

I'm like that guy in the CDW commercial who tells his IT guy: "Fred: All I know about computer is I want a better one than everybody else has" 8)

In House Review - LG GCE-8520B 52/24/52 CD-RW

CDRLabs has taken a look at LG's newest CD-RW, the GCE-8520B. Featuring some of the fastest speeds currently available, the GCE-8520B reads and writes at 52x and rewrites at a blazing 24x.
