News of CD-R/CD-RW Drives

Hi there guys!!

Since you have those wonderful in-depth cd-burner reviews, I wonder if it would be possible to compare a Sony CRX210E1 (flashed with Lite-on 52246s firmware!!) to Sony CRX220E1.

'cause 220e1's results ain't the best, I wonder if a flashed 210e1 would do better?? (220 seems to be ltr-32123s and 210 ltr-401248??)

I have a CRX-140E with firmware revision 1.0n on it. When I try updating to version 1.0p, the flashing program says it's incompatible with the computer when it tries to run (in pure DOS mode of course).

I've also tried the Windows-based flasher for firmware version 1.0s. Unfortunately, when I run that version, it says it can't detect any compatible drives for flashing.

It's currently the Secondary slave and the OS is WinXP. Any help ...

I read the reviews about a couple cd burners and i also browsed threw this forum and i wanted your advice....

My current configuration is CD-RW as secondary master and DVD-ROM as secondary slave. BIOS recognize the both drives as Ultra DMA 2 devices. I enabled the DMA support for both drives in Windows ME. The strange situation comes when i want to read a CD in DVD-ROM - I put the disc in and seems that the CD is loaded normal and then the computer hangs down. I cant do anything untill restart. First let me explain my situation. I have a laptop and need a cd-rw for it. I have two options: I can by an external burner or an internal burner and then buy a USB 2.0/Firewire external enclousure for it. Here are my choices.

1) Universal Buslink Internal 52x24x52 RW5252, $24.79.

2) Memorex 40x12x40 External 3202-3262, $73.38.

3) Samsung 48x16x48 Internal SW-248BRASF, $29.78.

4) TDK Velo CD 48x16x48 AI-481648, $25.00.

Well, I actually got a new system as well. Nothing is wrong with the drive, since I have tried it on my old system and it works.

Asus P4S533-VM motherboard with the SIS chipset for controllers
Windows XP Pro.
