How fast is too fast?

Audio Extraction Speed

I am trying to use Nero CD Speed to test how fast my cd drive can rip to my computer. The speed of the extraction only goes up to 16x, but when I have a data cd. It goes up to 40x

I am running WinXP SP1 and the drive is a Pioneer DVD-106

Can someone please explain why this is happening?

thanks in advance,
willie

Any one see this 100X CD-ROM??

Yes, I have heard of it. It's made by a company called ECS (http://www.ecs.com.tw). It uses a chunk of hard disk space to act as a buffer. The bigger the chunk, the higher the "X" rating. If you use 650 MB of your hard drive, the size of a full CD-ROM, you may achieve 100x speeds. That's pretty much the same as copying the entire CD to your hard ...

Win98 Dell Computer Doesn't Recognize cdrs in normal drive

I'm trying to troubleshoot a win98 pc w/ a single cd/dvd drive that is unable to recognize a particular homemade (i didn't make it though) cdr. It works on most other things like cdrs made from an .iso, dvds, cds and everything except this homemade cdr that seems to work just fine everywhere else.

So far I've tried the UDFreader thing and ASPI drivers but with no luck...any ideas?

LG 52x or Liteon 64x ?

Which is better ? Here in Brazil the Liteon is cheaper.

BTW, I can't find anything about the Liteon 64x at http://www.liteonit.com.tw/english/engl ... htm#CD-ROM

I opened a thread at http://www.liteonit.com.tw/english/engl ... p?tno=5381

I think the drive may be falsified.

A new CD-ROM Drive

Greetings one and all. I'm currently looking to buy a new CD-ROM drive to replace my old one. I don't need / want a CD-R/RW drive, as I already have one, but I do like having a regular CD-ROM.

Now I really must throw myself at your mercy, O people who know much more about this stuff than I. I'm simply looking for a drive that has few if any errors, and most importantly, one ...
