I found the 1.0d firmware at this site and the link is still active. Get it while its still there man.

The 1.0d firware is going to fix all the Ritek media compatibality problem you have with the 1.0f firmware.

One downside though... you can't burn DVD+R at 4X...only at 2.4X
YOu still can burn DVD-R at 4X using the cheap Ritek media.

My LG is the GCE-8520B 52x24x52x come with nero 5.5.9.9 and as Mt. Rainier support, but the US web site show only the GCE-8521B, are they the same?? both drives are 52x24x52x.

i have a DRX-500UL drive which i bought some time ago.
It came with the 1.0d firware and works fantastically.

I use the Ritek DVD-R 4 X media and it burn in about 15-20 minutes. Sweet.

With PrimeDisc 1X DVD-R media it took about 60 minutes.

But thats not my problem. I just updated my firmware from 1.0d to the 1.0f firmware. My installation went smoothly and it recorded as a successful update. By the ...

I think I have to ask this question even if there is a list of compatible media for Lite ON burner.

Does anyone out there with Lite-On LTR - 52246S burner have any preferences on what is the best media that works well with it.

On some highend Sony stand-alone DVD players, there is a feature which tells you what layer of a dual layer DVD you are currently on. This makes it easy to locate the layer change in any movie you're watching. I was wondering if there is a similar utility that might let you do this on a PC? I want to find the layer change on all my movies and some are very well hidden!
