Is it possible 2 get VCD's, SVCD's,MP3's,etc 2play on a Ps2?

Is it possible to get VCD's, SVCD's, etc to play on a Ps2?
I really don't want to have to fork out on a DVD player aswell.

It would be great if there is a way of getting Ps2's to play all that DVD players can.

Does ne1 know a way or is ne1 a talented programmer or something and has plans to write a program to burn to a cd so it will enable Ps2's to do this?

They would definately make a packet!....

Alternatively if there's no chance can ne1 recommend a DVD player that is good value and can do all this and more?

Someone told me that some of the cheaper brands have actually got the same drive mechanisms in them as the top end brands, is this true of some brands?

There was supposed to be a fix in Nero a while back so VCD's made with Nero could play on the PS2. I tried afew times but it never worked.

Nope. Not gonna happen, never did happen, and anyone who says they made it happen is lying or confused or telling a half truth. Don't waste your time trying. PS2 won't play VCD's, and that is that. Just go out and get a cheap Apex, Cyberhome, etc. Or play them on your computer.
