And now, I must take a leave of absence...

Postby BurninMan921 on Mon Feb 09, 2004 12:17 am

Parting out my system tonight, and selling the POS. I'll have to wait a couple of weeks for my tax refund to get here to replace it, though...

Ah well...it'll be a nice upgrade:
P4C 2.4GHz -> Athlon 64 3400+ (maybe 3200+, we'll see!) - This'll rock w/the 64-bit SuSE Linux!
GeForce 2 TI -> GeForceFX 5900
15" POS -> 19" Viewsonic
2x120GB & 2x60GB -> 1x160GB (SATA), 1 74GB Raptor (for Linux) & 1 36GB Raptor (for Windoze, MAYBE)
512MB DDR266 -> 1GB DDR433MHz
Game TheaterXP -> SB Audiogy 2 Platinum
DD0401 -> Plextor PX-708 (maybe...might wait for DVD+R DL)
Lite On 166S & 52327S -> Lite On 52x32x52x16 Combo drive

All in all, a nice upgrade, if I do say so myself!! I'm just finishing up a 7-CD backup (I hate being out of DVD+Rs!), and when I done, this hunk of junk is toast!

The downside: No 'net access for two-three weeks! :o Gulp!

So, see ya all in about 2 weeks or so! Unless someone replies before I get done backing up :wink:

Oh man I'm so hooked I'd get DT's having to wait that long for access. A freind builds machines and does networking/IT type stuff and he says the 64 rocks, much faster then his P4 3200. :o

Still here till morning! The guy that wanted to buy it had something come up tonight and will come over before noon tomorrow. Gave me time to pack 360GB of data onto a 120GB HDD...

I would've like to have gotten that mobo, too! :( Oh well.

Well, back now! Sorta...for a few days anyway. Take the time to dismantle this thing then he says he's gotta wait a few days for his check. Argh! He better still buy this thing!

Least I got 'net access, again! :wink:

Nope, not yet! What pranav81 said! :wink: And jeez, pranav, change your avatar! :P

My roommate is going nuts without access to e-bay, so he's having me build him a new system - which I'll be able to use, too :)

It'll be a slow Athlon XP, but enough to him to get online. But geez, 60GB vs. 360GB! Ah well. Guess I won't be installing Linux :( No more 3-D games (I don't think the orginal N-Force's onboard graphics are gonna be to quick!), or DVD coping, or digital video anything. But I'll have 'net access again!!

Ordered the parts today; should have 'em by Monday. Newegg tends to be quick.

Nice avatar, Pranav.

Second only to mine, now.

LightningBaron's was better, but haven't seen it lately.

Last year Spaz had the best, but changed it to the Maple Leaf Flag.

It was a digital camera picture of my face with my tongue out.

People described it as "disturbing".

Either that or it was Samantha Fox wearing a far too tight T-shirt that said "it's rude to stare".

I still have both pictures, but not on my webspace.

I turned off my ad blocker, and the image showed up. I wonder why it was blocked?

BTW, my ad blocker is allowing CDRLabs ads to show. :)

I'm using the built-in ad blocker with AvantBrowser; I have no idea why it's blocking the MS logo. I certainly didn't do it on purpose (while I certainly do like Linux, I like Windows, too).

Avant is blocking some ads based on paths with wildcards, such as all files that have *ads* in their paths. Maybe one of those wildcards is somehow in your MS image. It doesn't make sense to me. Oh, well, now I can see your avatar because I'm currently using Mozilla Firefox on one of my Linux boxes (I was obviously on Windows earlier).
