Thanks for the heads up. I've been wanting to pick up some of their 4x discs. Just too expensive for my tastes.

Do you guys know who makes the Sony 10 pack Dvd-R's right now? I know about dvdrhelp and will check it. It's just I wanted to know if anyone has gotten any recently. Also, who makes the 10 pack of Sony Dvd+r?

Thank you.

Ian,

I saw some a month ago that was made in Austria. I think it was a 5 pack. Was the ones you seen made in Austria? If not what country in Europe?

Ian,

That's strange, I saw them at Target too. It was a 5 pack I think.

The Austria ones are made by Sony themselves.

Go down a little bit and a guy says there made in Austria.

Is Sony made media good? Does Sony make media anymore?

I picked up some of the Sony discs today. The DVD-R discs were made in Taiwan. I haven't opened em up yet, so I don't know who the manufacturer is yet.

So far on the 10 pack I've seen, Austria, Japan, and Taiwan. Compusa has all Taiwan. I hope Sony hasn't switched.

I'm going to guess that those Tawain Sony Dvd-rs are Prodiscs. My second guess would be Cmc. I bet Prodisc. When you open them please tell me what they were to see if I'm right.

Ian,

Thank you for posting what they were.

It looks like my guesses were wrong about the Dvd-R. Since the Austria ones were suppose to be made by Sony, I thought the ones that were made in Taiwan wouldn't be. I guess I was wrong. Why do you think the Taiwan and Austria are both the same ones? Did Sony move their manufacturing from Austria to Taiwan?

I picked up a pack of DVD+R yesterday and backed up two DVD movies. So far no problems, I'm new to all this. The DVD+R are purple on the bottom and they also say made in Taiwan. Hope this helps.

I have burnt 2 packs of these in my 106 without a hitch. I bought the dvd-r and they are made in japan and identify as SONY04D1. Who actually makes these? They had made in taiwan ones also but I bought the japanese ones. Going to get another pack right now. Anyone know if the error rates are good on these? I would love to burn them at 8X on my 107 knowing they are still a good burn quality.

My Sony -R discs are made in Japan have no shrink wrap on them and, identify as TYG01. Got lucky I guess. Staples sent me a $10 off $10 or more, bought 2 packs of 10, so at 50 cents a disc I couldn't pass.
