External enclosure or ATA controller card?

Postby NoSmartz on Fri Apr 09, 2004 1:34 pm

I'm tired of my mother griping about her pc's performance and she's to cheap to buy another one so I'm going to give her my P4 1.8 so she'll be quiet.I took my plexi 708 out and put it in my other pc but I've heard conflicting accounts on the 708's ability to write to cmc cd media. The ? I ask coming is due to the fact that I have 100 blank Imation cd's that happen to be cmc media. Can I get an external enclosure that'll work with a 24x cdrw(LG/Hitachi)or would it be best to get an ATA Controller card?
They both are around the same price.Any thoughts?

For an optical drive, the external enclosure. My 708 never had problems burning to any CD media, but, then again, I don't think I ever tried CMC on it...

I generally stick to TY (Fuji) and Ridata for +R/-R. All are pretty reasonable and I don't mind paying a slight premium for media that I know is AAA grade.
