This worm is especially dangerous, since it can infect an unprotected PC, without the user even having to open an e-mail or an e-mail attachment, as is the case with most traditional virii.

Suggest they get AntiVirus and Internet Security software as soon as possible.

Just patch your crap and be smart about security. Then you won't have to worry about worms.

On a related note, one of my students' computers got infected with this crap today. I've been telling them for days to update their stuff, but no..... damn kids.

Bah, I've used it and it sucks. Zone Alarm is the best software firewall out there, course', my Linksys firewall gets the job done with no annoying software.

I have enabled the default firewall that comes with Wingate 5.2.3,which I use to share internet over my network. It works fine and I am protected from all threats, except the ones like Blaster,it blasted my Windows 2000 installation while I was away on my holiday. My friends didnt knew about it and I had to reinstall Win2K when I came back. Thanks to that I installed the patch on my home Win XP computer.I always use Windows Update on my home computer and then manually select the updates.
