Thought this was a swingin' deal (I hear that Piodata uses Taiyo Yuden dye). 100 pack of DVD-R 4x Piodata at www.meritline.com usually runs at $75, but with this coupon (pa30off) its only $52.50... for a 100 pack!! I think the deal expires on the 20th so hurry up.

Not a bad deal. I like Piodata's 8x DVD-R discs.

What's the media code, and will they write at 6x or 8x in some drives?

Meritline has a nice DVD-R compatibility chart. Too bad it doesn't list the NEC 2500A.

Seems to be luck of the draw with 4X, according to this
[url=http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia.php?dvdmediasearch=piodata&dvdmediadvdridsearch=&type=6&size=All&dvdburnspeed=All&searchdvdwriter=&searchdvdwriterfirmware=&searchdvdplayer=&order=Name&search=Search+or+List+Media]annoyingly long link @ videohelp.com - edited by dodecahedron.
please don't do that again. use BBcode.[/url]
If you're lucky you'll get Ritek discs.

Well, it wasn't TY dye (wishful thinking I guess). I just got my 100 pack today. The media code is 'GSC002'. I'll do some tests tonight on it and see how it fares in my PS2, xbox, and DVD players. Be back with report;)

Well, I burned a DVD movie (pretty much filled up the disk completely) at 4x and checked it with Nero Scandisk. Perfect (no errors). I then tested it on my extremely finiky PS2 and it worked flawlessly (I tested at the beginning and at the end, zero skipping). Also worked fine on my xbox and DVD players. All in all, pretty decent media. I just burned some 4x AN32 coded media the other day and my PS2 just choked on it, so I am quite glad I had some good luck with this stuff;)
