My Shoe Collection (56k BEWARE)

Postby BuddhaTB on Sat May 08, 2004 1:08 am

Some of you collect CD/DVD burners, others collect guns, but for myself, I collect sneakers. :D

I finally busted out all my shoes for some pics during spring break. Broke a sweat bringing everything out and moving it all over the place. Since this pic was taken, I have added a few more pairs. If you want more info about anything, let me know. Enjoy and all comments are welcomed. Please no flames.

WOW! Is it a collection of shoes or a pic of a mini shoe shop?

My collection is worth atleast $5,000. Its somewhat like an investerment to me, thats why I keep everything Brand New. The shoes I do wear, I didn't post a pic of them.

But when the time comes, I will cash out most of them and move onto bigger and better things like a car, wedding ring, or etc. I can't really see myself doing this forever, unless I make it big and have extra money on the side to keep the collection going.

I really think you are missing a couple of classics which I used to own...

1. The Nike Bo Jackson crosstrainers with the visable air window and neon pink accents.

2. The Andre Agassi with the yellow neon and single velcro strap.

Is that a complete collection of Jordan's???

I don't think I see the original Air Jordans, but mighty impressive.

How do you 'cash out?' Is this a collectors market?

Bo Jackson trainers, I will not purchase them for my collection. I only buy models that I like or wanted as a kid. Agassi shoes are very hard to find in my size and in Brand New condition. I will have them eventually, but I just have to keep searching for a pair in my size. There are two strict rules I adhere to when buying new shoes, they must be my size (11) and they must be brand new with original box.

I do not have a complete collection of Jordans and I do not plan to either. The Jordan XIX's are very ugly to me and I have vowed to never own a pair. There are a few other Jordans that I don't like the design as much and aren't very high on my priority list of shoes to look for.

kevincott wrote:I don't think I see the original Air Jordans, but mighty impressive.

Do you mean the Air Jordan I or original Air Jordans that came out the first time around? I do have a lot of the retro models, but I do own some OG Jordans like the VIII, XII, XIII, and XIV. I also have the Air Jordan I, but its a 2001 retro ediiton in a Grey/Silver colorway.

kevincott wrote:How do you 'cash out?' Is this a collectors market?

Cash out means to sell it all. There is a lot of demand out there for Jordans and older vintage shoes. A lot of my pairs I can easily get atleast $200 for. Two of my most valuable pairs can fetch $400-500 each respectively. The longer you hold onto it, the value of them will steaily increase. Just like how an original 1985 Air Jordan shoe in Brand New condition can fetch a few thousand on eBay.

The ones I am talking about came out around 1986, most often with red trim and black swoosh on the white background I believe.

I was not aware of the collector value as my ignorance shows.

Is it expected that these shoes will lose interest with Jordan playing past his prime?

How about him being out of uniform, will collector interest decrease over time?

Gotta hand it to people that spot ways to make money!

I am always amazed whenever I see pictures (you can't fit all your shoes in one picture anymore) of your ever expanding collection! :D

Considering the extent and value of your collection, have you insured it? It might be wise if you can do it for premiums that aren't too high. Don't assume that homeowner's or renter's insurance will cover them. Insurers often like to exclude or limit coverage for collections of antiques/firearms/jewelry/etc.

Well, almost. but, as they say on the Hertz commercial: "Not Exactly!"

Check this and scroll down to: #DH3110WC Drew's 10" Buckaroo Packer. A pair of these is being made and I should have them in two to three weeks. :P

Oh! Hang on, folks. Almost forgot, I did get a pair of New Balance court shoes last week, already played tennis in them.

Hmm.. maybe I'll have to bust out my Star Wars collection. I've had most of it in storage for the last few years. There's no room in our house. Not to mention, my TF collection seems to grow in size exponentially, taking over space where my Star Wars stuff used to be.
