Help Files Lost After I Installed XP

Ok heres the deal.... I Just installed Windows XP Pro. I did not format my harddrive.. I deleted the old Windows and Installed a brand new one.. All my files are in a folder labeled 'Eric' on my computer and everytime i try to click and open that file i get an

C:\Documents and Settings\Eric is not accessable.
"Access is Denied."

Is there anyway to get past this access is denied and retrieve my files?

Login as administrator and move them out of documents and settings. You must have multiple "eric" accounts now.

I tried that and it says
An Account named 'Eric' Already exists. Type a different name.

This issue has come up a number of times. Have a look at WinXP filesystem issues:security, permissions, ownership etc
