.ax open problem

Whenever I try to install a codec I get this error

error opening file for wrighting:

"C:\Windows\System32\ffdshow.ax"

I also get the same error messege whenever I try to install any audio/video-xvid/divx codec
what do I do to resolve this problem?

You can't just run it. Which Windows version? In case of Win 2K, you have to type "regsvr32 C:\Windows\System32\ffdshow.ax"

I've already resolved this problem. The was an existing FFdshow folder when I attempted to reinstall the codecs. I went to that folder and deleted the .ax file and then ran the setup again; that did it. Thanks anyway
