Is it ok to keep burning continously for hours?

Postby GizmoC on Mon Jun 28, 2004 7:13 pm

Well, my question is straightforward.

I bought a new LiteOn SHOR 5238s drive. And, I've been burning with it for the past 4 hours. Doing something like this isnt new to me, I've totally abused by old LiteOn 2410B drive.
Sometimes I go on "burning sprees" when I have a ton of stuff to backup, usually over the weekend... I sit and back up for 4-5 hours continously.
I was just wondering, is this ok for the drive? Should I give it a break? If so, when?

Once again,
Thanks.

I tend to give my burner a break every couple of minutes, for however long it takes to normally burn a disc.

I also tend to keep my PC case open, so I can feel the drive and see how hot it's getting.

If the discs are coming out hot (as in hotter than a disc from the drive when it hasn't been used in awhile), I'd stop for awhile.

Same goes when reading discs in bulk.
