went on MSN.COM AND did SEARCH and read some forums on other websites
it's either a NEC2100A(NOT NEC2500A) OR BENQ 800A
and TEAC does not make this model DV-W58E.
with the specs on computergeeks, it most likely a NEC 2100A
NEC 2500A $20 10/04
NEC 3500AG for $47 4/05
NEC 3540 for $35 9/05
BENQ 1620 for $36 9//05

I have seen the internals of a DV-W58E and they are in no way similar to any other drive other than maybe the upcoming 12x Teac which is also supposedly manufactured by Teac. The DV-W58E uses a Sanyo chipsets similar to Optorite/Plextor drives, not Philips (BenQ) nor NEC.

It is interesting that some drives come with firmware 2.0B yet the only available firmware update for the drives is D0JA. I initially thought that there might be two different hardware designs released under the same model name, but The Dangerous Brothers did not agree and said that they are the same. They would know since they've recently spent a bit of time disassembling the firmware and creating a Region Free patch of D0JA.

Other recent drives from Teac appear to be unlike any other manufacturer and are likely manufactured by Teac as well.

Hello!

The 58E is definitive not a Liteon.

Untypical FW-version for a Teac

I heard rumors that it can be a Benq, but I really don´t know more.
Benq DW 1640 and 1650 , Plextor PX-755, Pioneer BDR-208 and 209D, LG GH24NSC0, LG BH16NS40 and 16NS55, Liteon ihas 124F and 324F, Pioneer DVR-215 and S21, Samsung SH-224DB and 224GB, and some more

If it's a Sanyo chipset I'd go with dhc, Teac drives were Sanyo for a long time.

Be interesting to see how it performs, Teac traditionally were very strong on media compatibility and burn quality.

That drive is certainly a TEAC, if that's the final unit then it seems TEAC are back in the running, cool :)
