Come on Kenny, you know it's not like that. Keep posting!

i think aviationwiz hasn't used latest samsung hdd...it is very quiet & in fact silience pc review's test showed that samusng 1213n 120gb 8mb 7200rpm is quieter & faster than seagate 7200.7 120gb 8mb 7200rpm drive. samsung hdd isn't the fastest...180gpx or something from hitachi is the fastest & wd is making way too much noise while maxtor's writing performace is not so good though reading is pretty good. yes maxtor is cheap so i own two maxtors 120gb & 250gb diamond max2 serise

for reliability, samsung & seagate have been the best & western digital & quantum (now part of maxtor) have been worse & the infamous deathstar from ibm has been the worst of all time

samsung is also fairly priced, so i am running raid 5 setup using 4 samsung 1614n drives...runs cool & quiet while providing me fast enough speed with 3 years of warranty

if you haven't tried samsung hdd, i suggest you to do so & you wouldn't be disappointed

btw, excelstor is pretty cheap but not too fast...80gb for about 35usd shipped without rebate.

I could not agree more. Unless you have specific performance needs (ie raptor) the samsung p80 series of HD's wipe the floor with the competition.

I particularly agree with your mention of samsung's reliability vs the competition in the HD department. Soooooo many people SWEAR by WD or even seagate/maxtor/hitachi etc. These people are biased and have little to compare to. The deathstar legacy hardly needs mentioning, that was ridiculous.

As mentioned earlier, Samsung LCD's and tubes are among the best made today.

Samsung continues to grow and grow in different markets, Im glad. Overall, my exp with Samsung products have been far above average.

I will admit however, that some of their optical drives have been sub par. Their new line of DVD drives seems much more promising tho...

This reminds me of anther big brand, Mr. Liteon. Its hard to argue that liteon makes awesome CDR's, particularly in the bang for the buck area. Liteon CDRs simply rock.

What happened to DVDR? While Liteon does have many very decent DVDR drives out there, they do not to stack up to the competition the way that their CDR's do.

Markets change, and Samsung is on the major up. Im keeping my eyes out for their new DVDRs.
