INCD deleted

Postby lisah on Tue Aug 17, 2004 11:41 am

I had to do a factory restore on my pc, however, my husband deleted INCD software because he wanted to use something else. Now I can't read the files on my cd. How do I find only that software to install without having to redo the factory restore. (Can't do a restore point either since none was created prior to his deleting the software).

Please keep the answer simple since I'm not very computer knowledgable.

Thanks
lisah

download the EasyWrite Reader

http://www.nero.com/en/InCD_4_Reader.html

this should enable you to read the InCD discs even without InCD installed.

hmm...
when did this happen?
it used to be called EasyWrite Reader, now it's called InCD Reader.

is it just a name change or is there more to it?

There is more that a name change. There is a change of purpose.

EasyWrite Reader was a product for reading back MRW-formatted media (EasyWrite been the marketing name for Mt Rainier).

InCD Reader is a product for reading back anythink formatted by InCD, and even a bit more.

EasyWrite Reader had UDF read capabilities limited to Windows 9x. InCD Reader extends this to NT 4.0, Windows 2000, XP and higher. And this includes reading of UDF 2.50, the latest UDF revision.

The little more is that InCD Reader also offers reading of DVD -VR (Video Recording).

InCD Reader is a free tool as was EasyWrite Reader.

thanks for explaining.

so lets see:
InCD reader can read any MRW disc (including ones written by another packet-writing application, not InCD?)
and it can read UDF discs too? written only by InCD or also by other packet-writing apps?

MRW structures are written by the device and not software-dependent. Hence, the reading of MRW discs in legacy devices is independent from the software who initiated the MRW format in an MRW capable recorder. It can be InCD or any other software supporting MRW.

Basically, InCD discs are UDF discs (except for the particular case of FAT formatted DVD-RAM). InCD Reader will enable to read UDF discs formatted by InCD in the sense it understands the UDF written by InCD, but not that it will check that the media was formatted by InCD and rejects to read otherwise. Some UDF capabilities are not (yet) supported by InCD, such as UDF on write-once media. Those are not supported neither by InCD Reader.
