New 1.10 Pioneer A08XLA, 108AXL, and 108 firmware

Postby hydrogen on Fri Aug 20, 2004 1:34 am

Pioneer released version 1.10 firmware for their A08XLA(B,C), 108AXL(BXL,EXL), and 108(BK) drives. I'm not sure if I needed to add those letters in parentheses, but they where on the web site, so I did.

sweet! bloody awesome!! I wonder if they went from Z-CLV to P-CAV? that would make this drive about as good as the NEC 3500a :D

Urge to buy drive.... rising!

Would they be able to do that with just a firmware upgrade?

I think it's final. I haven't ever seen Pioneer release a beta firmware. It was officially released by Pioneer.

It's final and it did impove the read performance. So far using DVD Decrypter, it is faster extracting, but not by a large margin (ave 5.1 vs 4.5X), than my new NEC 3500AG. Extraction using the older 1.06 firmware averaged about 4X. I just starting to test the write performance of both.

When you get done with the write tests, could you post the test results?
