Does burning at lower speeds always give better results ?

Postby avsgenie on Sun Aug 29, 2004 5:34 pm

Hi,
My Plextor 712A finally arrived - it seems middling for quality of burns. I have assembled about 8 different types of quality media, which I have started experimenting with. Burning at over rated speeds in terms of quality seems a definite no no. What I wonder about is whether burning at speeds less than the media rated speed (as printed on the packet) consistently gives better results? I seems to remember with CD-R's, there was often a sweet spot, where reducing speed too much used to give inferior burns.

It's media and burner specific. Some do and some don't.
