Using Nero after upgrading to DVD burner

Postby CarryStress on Tue Aug 31, 2004 8:53 am

I currently have version 5.5.9.17 of Nero. I installed a DVD burner when my CD burner died on me. Nero doesn't recognize my DVD burner though. All I want to do is burn some CDs with Nero. Do you need Nero 6 to be able to burn CD-Rs with DVD burners? Would the last update for Nero 5 help me at all? I don't plan on purchasing Nero 6 and don't really want to download the last update for Nero 5 since it is almost 19MB and I have a dial-up connection. I've used other programs to burn CDs and DVDs, so I know this is a Nero problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

well i would still recommend updateing to the latest nero 5.5

they might have added your dvd burner in that update

If your Nero is an OEM version that came with your now dead CD burner, I wouldn't expect it to work with other burners.

check this page:

if your DVD burner is a rather new model, it's probably not supported by Nero 5.5, so NO version of Nero 5.5 will work with it.
your only recourse is to upgrade to Nero 6.

Thanks for all the helpful replies, especially dodecahedron. I went to Nero's website looking to find the link that you provided with no luck. Obviously I didn't search enough. It turns out my new burner should be supported with the last update for Nero 5. Now it's just a matter of downloading the huge file. So thanks again for all the help!!
