Future shop + DVD+- media = bad choice????

Postby X-Nemesis on Wed Sep 01, 2004 5:46 pm

Shopping for media in ontario, canada.

Future shops are close by but I'm wondering if the media they sell is any good or better to buy somewhere specialized online, here's what they offer...

BenQ 100-Pack 4X 4.7GB DVD+R/-R 49.99
Cicero CI100SP-C 100 Pack 4.7GB DVD+R/-R 49.99
e3Works 100-Pack 1X - 4X 4.7GB DVD+R/-R 119.99
Kodak 100-Pack 4X 4.7GB DVD+R/-R 119.99
Memorex 50-Pack 4X 4.7GB DVD+R/-R 89.99
Verbatim 10-Pack 8X 4.7GB DVD+R 19.99

See if you can grab those Maxell 4x DVD+R's - 50 for $49.99 until the 2nd!
My NEC2500A seems to like them - burned with Herrie's dual layer 1.07 beta 5:

Seems my 3500A can burn them at 8x as well, haven't tried it yet though.

FS also sells Maxell, which is very good media..both - and +. The + is RICOHJPN R01 and the - is either Taiyo Yuden (made in Japan) or Ritek g04(made in Taiwan).

Right now FS has a 3 day sale running in Ontario and you can get a 50 spindle for $49.99.

Ok yeah, the Maxell 4x DVD+Rs aren't bad.. but the Ritek G04 DVD-Rs under the Maxell brand is WAY too expensive for that media!

The TYs are discontinued now I believe.

Don't forget: Futureshop's Labour Day weekend sale. Most of those discs are onsale.

You'll have better luck instore.
The Benq - & + discs are "taking orders, will ship when available".

But for $24.99 with free shipping. Buy online, even if you have to wait week until the actuall ship.
