They're ok if they're made by Taiyo Yuden. Personally, I prefer these, made by Fuji Photo Film (made in Germany).

The Fuji /Ritek's I've used were good- no complaints.

In Germany the cakeboxes are Ritek, the CD's in jewel cases are the Fuji-made ones that Han referred to.

Made in Japan?

Postby NuGuy on Wed Sep 08, 2004 10:01 am

Well, I've asked a lot about the "best" CDs here in the past, but I find that I'm not a high-speed user, and so everything I've used has worked well for me. (I won't live long enough to make any archival judgements... :-? ) I decided, based on all the discusions here, that TYs would be the "easiest" to find and buy. So...

I read here somewhere long ago that Fuji discs made in Japan were TYs. So I was looking at different Fuji disc packages (100, 50, 30, 10 quantities). I saw on the container label that the 100 and 50 spindle packages were made in Taiwan. The 30s were made in Japan. (I forget what the 10 said....) A week or two later I'm in FYE music looking at recorded music CDs, and I see these Fuji CD-R Spindle Swirl Colors discs (30 pkg) on sale for $9.99 with a $10 rebate. Label said "Made in Japan". So I bought two packages. I already have a bunch of discs, so I haven't tried them yet.

Am I wrong about this (Fuji discs "Made in Japan" are really TYs)?

Fuji discs made in Japan are really TY.

Fuji discs made in Taiwan are either Prodisc or Ritek.

And for the record, I have no problems with Prodisc or Ritek. Ditto for TY.
