NEC drives - extremely popular but no reviews/articles?

Postby hardware_failure on Fri Sep 17, 2004 12:22 pm

It seems that the new DVDR drives from NEC are among the highest rated with many users.

Am I blind or are there 0 reviews/articles for NEC drives on this site?

NEC doesn't sell any retail drives in the US, so you need to look for a review on one of their rebadged drives.
Here's one for the NEC 2500A:

Yeah, alot of them are.
It's still a mix though.
For instance , the 12X TDK is actually a LiteOn.

The 16X TDK is an NEC 3500A.

We have a review of the 3500A on the way. I've been holding back, waiting for some 16x capable -R media. It's not really worth reviewing the drive without testing ALL of its capabilities. Hopefully its media compatibility will be better with the 2.x9 firmware.

I just now stumbled on the 3500a thread - looks very promising! Thanks again for the info.
