Wrong media / testing disk

Postby Gren on Fri Sep 24, 2004 1:10 am

Hi,

I have a NEC 2500A and I just ordered my first DVDs from Meritline.. 100 pack of Genuine Ritek F05 8X DVD-R. I burned one today (Only about half a disk of data) at 8X and there were errors. I ran ScanDisk from the Nero tool and noticed a couple things..

1. About 3% and 2 files were unreadable.
2. The disks were identified as TYG02.

I'm assuming I was sent the incorrect disks.. Would anybody say the TY disks are better than the Ritek? Not sure if I want to mess with returning them. I'll try burning another disk at slower speeds. Also, are there any other disk testing software? I'm going to try KProbe as well as the Nero tools, but is there anything else I should know about?

Thanks
Gren

Those are *NOT* Taiyo Yuden DVDRs. If they were, they wouldn't have had the errors after being burned at 8x on that drive.

I would complain... very VERY loudly! :o

Wow, really? It sucks when you can't trust a store like that.. Oh well. Hopefully the fact that they say they're TY, when I ordered Ritek, will make the return easy. Thanks for the info though!
