I finally got my samples in today, what else can I say but *UGLY* packaging!! ugh! it's lime green!!! :o

Since my main system is busy right now, you'll have to settle with what my LDW-411s can say about them

It's kind of funny that Ritek's 16x DVD+Rs can only be burned at 2.4x on my LiteON LDW-411s... but I guarentee you such a wasteful act will not take place at my hands!!

Start expecting to see these available for sale mid to end of next month :D

The Pioneer DVR-107 with firmware version 1.18 can burn them at 4x...
The LiteON SOHW-832s with VS0A firmware can burn them at 2.4x... (haven't upgraded to latest firmware yet though)

Grammar police checking in. You need the word they're in this sentence, not their. :P

Pics? no pics :P not yet. All in good time!

And as for my grammer, since I was referring to the Marketing Department that belongs to Ritek USA, using the possesive tense was correct. I wasn't trying to say "they are very generous" but that "their (ritek's) marketing department is very generous".

My drives are still rather indisposed at the moment, and I don't have time to change that. Maybe after this weekend if I'm lucky!! :o

Here are the actual burning speeds that c't found for the RITEK R04's (marketed as Traxdata) in their newest 16x burner test (I'll put more test info in the sticky later):
4x: Asus DRW-1604P (1.09), LiteOn SOHW-1633S (BS0A), LG GSA-4160B (A300), NEC ND-3500A (2.16), Pioneer DVR-A08 (1.10)
8x: Teac DV-W516G (B4S2)
12x: Nu Tech DDW-163 (G7H9)
16x: BenQ DW-1620 (B7H9), Philips DVDR1640K (2.2)

But the quality wasn't great (best with the NuTech) and often unreadable (e.g. LG). Most drives will need firmware updates. Ian' and others have already mentioned some newer versions without improvements.

[edit]revised link in sticky after posting details[/edit]
