Nero reloaded

Postby MediumRare on Fri Oct 01, 2004 7:44 am

The German news site heise has an item on Nero reloaded. This is apparently a semi-major upgrade. Nero (and express) go to version 6.6. Owners of the full version 6 can download a free upgrade.

New components are Nero "PhotoSnap" nad "MediaHome". Other modules have improvements in details or sorted out loose ends. E.g. Nero will apparently support a "short leadout" which saves finalizing time and adds ca. 12 MiB capacity.

Nero Reloaded 6.6

Postby HardwareHarry on Fri Oct 01, 2004 10:16 am

I've seen the article of Heise (c't magazine), thanks MediumRare.
A month ago Ahead had a similar release with Nero and PhotoShow pack,
I emailed Ahead for more information, but that release was only for the American market.
About this new "reloaded", I can't find anything on Ahead's german or english site's pages, so it is possible this will be only a release for the European market.
I'll be watching the site's ftp around that date (on a monday),
Ahead most new updates will be released on a Friday, that's why I always check Ahead's ftp servers on that day.

I think this is just very fresh news- it'll take a while to get the press releases up. c't (and heise) generally have good contacts and get the information early. I don't think they'll differentiate their main product for various markets more than they have to date.

The release date mentioned at heise is 18 October. But Nero 6 had a long lead time

Nero Reloaded 6.6

Yes Meduim Rare, you're right it's indeed fresh news and Heise Publishers
are fast with this kind of news, especially while the Photokina runs, where Ahead has a stand and Heise did a good job to listen at this stand!

As I keep saying, I hope ahead gets on the ball and offers an option to do a customized install of Nero. App is getting too big and most folks don't use every feature. This sounds like they'll just be adding more bloat.

Right tazdevl.I dont remember using the cover designer, wave editor that is installed with Nero.I believe that Nero Back it Up and some other software is also installed with Nero 6.I wish Ahead would keep the installer size small or offer different installers with different components.

Indeed guys, I too don't use CoverDesigner, MediaPlayer, ShowTime and InCD, because for those functions I use resp. PhotoShop, NeroMIX/RealPlayerPlus, CinePlayer150 (Sonic).
So for me too, there by Ahead they can make the installer customized or more compact.
