NEC ND-3500AG won't write to DVD-RW media (Nero 6)

Postby petereh on Mon Oct 04, 2004 12:43 pm

Hi,

Can anyone help? I am not an expert user, but have bought an NEC ND-3500AG drive and installed in my Windows XP (SP2) system with Nero 6.

It writes to DVD+RW media fine and also to DVD-R, but whenever I try DVD-RW media (Imation), it fails. I have no other brand of disks to try. Nero reports the disk is not empty and invites me to accept a quick erase. I do that, but then the same thing happens when I retry.

Interestingly, NeroInfoTool recognises the disk as a DVD-RW with a capacity of 0:00.01 (0MB) . All other fields are "N/A" except the Manufacturer which is reported as OPTODISCW002.

Any write operation fails with a "no seek complete" message.

Do I have faulty media, a faulty drive, or faulty software?

Regards,

Peter

try doing a full-erase before re-using that DVD-RW disc.

I've always had problems with my NEC 2500a and DVDRWs. It only seems to like Ricoh code and MCC code RWs. CMC, Optodisc, and Ritek code's didn't work to well for me.
