52x Verbatim CDR at Buy.com for $8.77

Postby sandersk on Mon Oct 25, 2004 10:21 am

From dealnews.com:

A 50-disc spindle of Verbatim 52x CDR is available at Buy.com for $8.77. Free shipping. Can't tell if these are DataLifePlus or what. Don't know if these are Taiyo Yuden, but I'm obviously hoping they are. Will let you know.

Also Shop4tech.com is offering a 100-disc spindle of Ritek 48x CDR for $16.20 shipped with the coupon code "DN10."

the only TY made Verbatim CDs i've seen were the Pastel DataLife (not Plus).

this deal doesn't seem to be the Pastel CDs.
i'd say they're not TY.

I picked up a 50-disc spindle of the Verbatim 52x from Circuit City and they were made by CMC magnetics.

I wouldn't be surprised is these Verbatim discs at Buy.com are made by CMC as well. Nothing is mentioned about DataLifePlus, and look at the packaging: classic CMC style.

The price is good though, I'd still buy them. I have nothing against CMC. :)

It does not say DataLife anywhere on the label.

Standard Verbatim CDRs here in India are Prodisc :(
I can get Maxell Ritek discs at the same price, better quality, IMO.

I got what everyone did: Made in Taiwan by CMC Magnetics.

Scan with ver. 1 of KProbe (LTR 52327S) yielded a high of 10 for C1 error rate and no C2 errors.

Damn good results to me. Unfortunately, the free shipping is not available now. Too bad, I only got one spindle myself.
