Help....1620 OEM File needed

Postby jberry on Tue Nov 09, 2004 10:40 am

Just got a 1620 from a colleague for $20....yah....but I need to cross flash to retial as it is OEM (firmwar g7c9).

Check this out:

http://club.cdfreaks.com/showpost.php?p ... stcount=15

I need the step 1.....the downgrade to 1600. File does not seem to be available. Is there a mirror for "step1: ( G7K9 -> DW1600 firmware )
http://planet.time.net.my/KLCC/yangxi/B5G9.zip" anywhere...or can you email to ronspencer23@yahoo.com?

thanks....gotta try this drive out

thanks for your great efforts....but it is step one that I need. If well get all we may want to think about mirroring it all;

again step 1 is:

step1: ( G7K9 -> DW1600 firmware )

thanks for your step 2 post though =D>

Make sure your drive is at G7K9 when you do the step 1 cross flash.

Should be fun to see how this all works with faster recording etc. Hopefully this drive works as well as all the reviews say.

I believe tdb has firmware b7p9 as a cvt file. it might be quicker to flash with tdb's dos flasher and the cvt file, if it allows to be flashed like that.
just for futrure reference.

From reading this thread, I take it that the OEM DW1620 cannot be flashed unless this is done? (Sorry for the n00b question as I am not too familiar with the Benq drives but am thinking of getting this one)

Also, is the B7P9 firmware at tdb the same as the B7P9 that was released on benq.com yesterday?

some OEM BenQ models seem to have the retail firmware it seems. Mine did at least.

I don't know about the dangerous brother's firmware, but it seems the same. They may have unlocked portions of it though (like rip speed?).

My Digital Research drive was a retail firmwared BenQ 1600 also when I got it from Offfice Depot. So it might be luck of the draw and what box it's in, mine just gets better with every firmware update.
